Hey sweet thing!
Baking can be tedious, hard, and lets face it, time consuming. While I love trying out new recipes and baking amazing cakes from scratch, I just don’t always have time. And I know for a fact that I’m not alone.
So today I’m going to show you how to make a gorgeous, fun, and unique cake in a matter of minutes!
What you’ll need:
- A pre-made grocery store cake
- Parchment paper
- A piping or ziplock bag
- Chocolate chips (I used semi-sweet)
- Any fun sprinkles or candy shred

To start off, melt about a half cup of the chocolate chips in 30 second intervals in the microwave until you get a smooth and even consistency.
Next, pour the melted chocolate into your ziplock bag and close the top off. Cut off one corner of the bag and prepare to pipe the melted chocolate.
Onto a piece of parchment paper, pipe your numbers (letters, drawings, etc.) to serve as a topper. Be sure to pipe a line of chocolate on the bottom of your number to serve as a stake to hold the topper in place.
While the chocolate is still wet, cover it with your sprinkles. I used the most AMAZING hot pink candy shred that reminded me of a piñata. Since I was making this for my sister’s 21st birthday, I felt this candy shred was just what the simple chocolate cake needed.
Now that the numbers are made and decorated, place them in the fridge to solidify.
Once you’re ready to celebrate, take out the hardened toppers and place them on top of the cake. In order to liven up the cake even more, I added some extra sprinkles around the base of the cake.

And that’s it! It honestly took me no more than 10 minutes to make all of the components and decorate the cake. Plus my sister (pictured below) loved it!
I hope you enjoyed this post and if you did be sure to subscribe for updates on more simple and stunning decorating techniques.
Until next time!
Love, N
